W kierunku państwa przyjaznego migrantom – polityka imigracyjna rządu SPD, FDP i Zielonych

The aim of the article is to examine the actions taken by the government of the SPD-FDP-Greens in Germany as part of the migration policy towards foreigners, both arriving in and residing in the country. The work is intended to clarify whether these decisions were part of the multicultural model of immigration policy. The article analyzes the activities of the government, the intention of which was to regulate the stay and introduce facilitations in terms of coming to Germany, and points to the consequences of this policy. The government’s actions included, among others: continuation of the voluntary resettlement programme, joining the group of countries voluntarily accepting migrants, easing the requirements in the procedure of granting citizenship, introducing the right of occasional residence for tolerated persons, shortening the duration of the asylum procedure and not introducing regular border checks on sections of the border that were exposed to high migration pressure. They resulted in an increase in migration pressure to Germany and a large number of applications for international protection.

Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Russophobic war-related crimes took place in Germany. The incidents were aimed at Russians or people perceived as such. At that time, the Russian-German late resettlers Spätaussiedler also experienced discrimination, being stereotypically perceived as pro-Putin immigrants from post-Soviet countries. The article analyzes the escalation of anti-Russian prejudices and discrimination in Germany in 2022, also directed at Russian-German late resettlers, in the context of their migration history and sense of social integration.

The article is a selective analysis of the media of the Sorbian minority describing the war in Ukraine. The aim was to give an answer to the question of whether and how the aggression against Ukraine in 2022 was portrayed. An answer was sought to the question of whether the minority participates in helping refugees from Ukraine. How does it get involved at the local level, in its places of residence and work. An important element of the study was to demonstrate the multiple lines of action promoted in the media. The main information media of the Sorbs became a platform for rapid information about needs, risks, meetings for refugees and minorities in order to more effectively support Ukrainians and actively participate in their socialisation process in Lusatia in Germany.

On 15 November 2017, the Bundestag received an appeal to erect a monument in honour of Poles, commemorating Polish victims of the German occupation in 1939–1945. The initiative triggered a serious debate in Germany on the importance of Polish victims and their possible uniqueness. The article aims to analyse the arguments used in the discussion about Polen-Denkmal and to look at the significant differences in the perception of the history of World War II by Poles and Germans. The discrepancies result not only from the victim–perpetrator dichotomy, but also from their different approaches to the role of history, the nation-state and additionally to the state of knowledge. The article is based on an analysis of arguments in the intra-German and Polish-German debates, as well as data concerning research on the knowledge of Germans about the victims of World War II.

The problem of war losses in Poland has again gained wide interest in recent years. This has resulted in numerous publications, especially in the media, which, however, do not provide reliable information on the issue. The idea for writing this article, which comments on media statements, came from an exhibition of the Institute of National Remembrance entitled „The Economy of the Third Reich”. The aim of the article is to analyse the issue of wartime losses of bells from the territories annexed to Poland after 1945. This issue allows for a broader commentary on the issue of losses from these areas and the need for Polish specialists to develop substantive and legal bases for discussion in the context of Polish-German relations.

Zur Deutschen Volksliste gibt es bereits eine umfangreiche Literatur, sowohl in Polen als auch in Deutschland. Von den wichtigeren Arbeiten, die vor 1989 darüber geschrieben wurden, sind die Studien von Zbigniew Izdebski und Zofia Body-Krężel zu nennen, und von denen, die nach 1989 geschrieben wurden, vor allem die Arbeiten von Ryszard Kaczmarek über Oberschlesien, aber auch von anderen Historikern. Die Forschung in diesem Bereich wurde aus zwei Gründen eingegrenzt: Zum einen lag der Schwerpunkt auf den deutschen Rechtsvorschriften und der Politik, zum anderen auf der schwierigen Situation vieler polnischer Bürger, die oft zwangsweise in die Deutsche Volksliste eingetragen wurden.
