Newcomers and Changes in the Silesian Mining Community Using Murcki and Lędziny as Examples
Abstract
Using the British Mining Communities Studies, the author analyses the transformation of traditional Silesian mining communities under the influence of newcomers from outside the region. He utilises the results of monograph research conducted in three mining communities (Grodziec, Murcki and Lędziny). He pays particular attention to the movement away from the integrated mining community towards changes in the cultural capital and the model of the family.
