The article addresses the problem of collective memory and post-memory of the residents of Upper Silesia. Its important elements are the service of men in the Wehrmacht during World War II and the Volksliste. The article describes the problem of painful memory using the example of the Upper Silesian community memory.
The memories of the Upper Silesians devoted to the service of their ancestors in the Wehrmacht, as well as the fate of Upper Silesia are also analysed. The article is based on sociological qualitative research and existing data.
