Guidelines for the Authors of Reviews
The Polish‐German Annual only accepts reviews of scientific publications. A prior contact with the Editors is encouraged in order to establish the author and the title of the book to be reviewed. This will allow to exclude repetions as the review might have already been written by someone else. The chosen book should not be older than two years since the publishing date. The length of the review should not exceed half of the publishing sheet, i.e. 20 thousand characters. At the top of the first page the review should contain a full bibliographical description of the reviewed book. One review can include several works of the same author or works on a similar topic. The review must include the reviewer's assessment (praise or critique – otherwise it is just a description) and conclusions (what is the contribution of the book to the discipline, evaluation of the back matter, bibliography, indication of indices, pictures, tables, ect.)
Review Procedure
By submitting a Manuscript, an Author agrees the aricle be subject to the review process. Each and every text is first subject to an Editorial screening. The manuscripts are reviewed by competent and reliable experts, the reviews are confidential and anonymous (double-blind review). The reviews are conducted by two external experts (not employed in the institute or university publishing the Annual), whereby a minimum qualification for a reviewer is a doctoral degree. The reviewers shall not be employed in the same university or institute as the author and there shall be no conflict of interest between the reviewer and the author. The Author receives the review and is consequently informed about the results of the review process. Therefore, the Author is obliged to make any necessary corrections as suggested by the reviewers. Any communication between the Author and the Reviewer is conducted by the Editors.
