Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • I hereby declare that the article submitted is solely the work of the Author(s) stated, and consequently no honorary authorship occurs.
  • I hereby declare that from the final Manuscript Acceptance Date I grant "Kultura i Społeczeństwo" free of charge the right, unlimited in time and territory, to reproduce, disseminate and sublicense the Manuscript, in whole or in part, and in any form, including electronic form, effective upon publication.
  • I declare that the article files have been prepared in accordance with the requirements specified by the Editorial Board and do not contain any information that would allow to identify the Author/Author of the article.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • I hereby declare that the article is not being processed in another journal.

Author Guidelines

  1. The Editorial Team of Sprawy Międzynarodowe accepts for evaluation and prospective publication original, previously not published scientific texts on a regular basis and occasionally (but with at least three-month notice) welcomes submissions for special thematic issues.
  2. The Editorial Team accepts articles in electronic form only (*.doc, *.docx *.rtf files).
  3. All submissions shall be made via the journal's online system or shall be sent to sprawymiedzynarodowe@isppan.waw.pl.
  4. Submitting a text, the Author thereby declares it is his/hers original work and any contributions of third parties shall be given appropriate credit. Moreover, the Author declares the text has not been previously published neither in the Polish language nor in any foreign language and it is currently not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  5. The Author shall provide information about his/hers academic degree or title, ORCID iD, affiliation, postal and email address and contact number.
  6. The manuscript length shall not exceed 40.000 characters (one publisher’s sheet), including references.
  7. The Manuscript shall be sent along with a bibliography and an abstract (100-150 words each) as well as key words in Polish and in English.
  8. All submissions are subject to double-blind review by external experts who hold a minimum of a doctoral degree.
  9. The Author shall receive one copy of the issue in which his/her article was published.
  10. Footnote referencing style shall be applied. A footnote number within the text shall precede a punctuation mark. References shall be formatted according to the following guidelines:

Privacy Statement

I. General Provisions

  1. The following Privacy Policy applies to all Users of the Institute of Political Studies, PAS Journals Platform at http://czasopisma.isppan.waw.pl/, hereinafter referred to as „the Platform”.
  2. The Administrator of your personal data is the Institute of Political Studies, PAS with its registered office at Polna 18/20, 00-625 Warsaw, NIP: PL5250008376, REGON: 006228247, hereinafter referred to as „the Administrator”.
  3. Personal data will be processed according to the Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”.

II. Purpose, Scope and Duration of Storage

  1. Personal data of all Platform Users will be processed within the scope and purposes necessary for the efficient functioning of the Platform, and in particular for:
    1. Good communication in the publishing process,
    2. Content editing,
    3. Creating internal reports and analyses (statistical analysis regarding the use of the Platform, reading statistics),
    4. Sending, upon User’s consent, notifications and information concerning a journal,
    5. Collecting payment, where necessary to access a publication,
    6. Informing a Reader about the authorship of texts published on the Platform,
    7. Indexing texts published and data in databases, catalogues and on the websites according to the Publishing Policy of a journal.
  2. Users registered on the Platform may provide the Administrator with the following data:
    • First Name

    • Surname*
    • Login
    • *Gender
    • Password (encrypted)
    • *Email address*
    • ORCiD ID
    • Website
    • Country*
    • Phone Number
    • Fax Number
    • Affiliation
    • Biography
    • Date of Registration

    • Role on the Platform
  3. Should a system for placing orders for electronic versions of publications through the Platform be designed and implemented, a Service Recipient may provide the Administrator with additional information concerning the method of payment and bank account number.
  4. Providing personal data is:
    1. Voluntary for open access content on the Platform;
    2. Obligatory for content related to participation in the publishing process, including but not limited to:
      1. Uploading texts for publication for Users with author rights;
      2. Performing activities related to the roles of: editor, section editor, technical editor, reviewer, DTP specialist, indexer, copyeditor, journal manager, subscription manager and marketing manager;
      3. Creating an account with reader rights in order to obtain information on recently published issues and articles.
  5. Personal data of subjects to the publishing process, including authors, editors and reviewers shall be subject to processing for statistical and scientific purposes pursuant to Article 89 of GDPR for as long as the electronic versions of a journal are made available. Scientific purposes shall be understood as archiving, making available, indexing and transferring for indexing in databases, catalogs and scientific servers any articles and metadata.
  6. Personal data of prospective authors whose manuscripts have not been accepted for publication might be deleted by the Administrator after two years or longer have elapsed since the non-publication decision by the Editorial Board.
  7. Personal data of Users with reader rights might be deleted by the Platform Administrator at any time upon receipt of request made by the User.

III. User's Rights

  1. To the extent provided under the legal provisions referred herein, each User registered on the Platform enjoys the rights stipulated in articles 15-21 of GDPR, namely:
    1. The right to access data,
    2. The right to correct data,
    3. The right to be forgotten,
    4. The right to restrict data processing,
    5. The right to data portability
    6. The right to object
  2. Registered Users shall have the right to edit their account(s) and make any corrections to the previously entered data, except for the User Login Name. The app enables Users to withdraw their consent to receive notifications from the Publisher and Editorial Boards of journals within the Platform at any time.
  3. If a User wishes to execute any of her/his rights stipulated in III.1, (s)he shall contact the Administrator at elizawieta@gmail.com

IV. Administrator Rights

  1. The Administrator shall reserve the right to retain User data also once the consent has been revoked, however solely when such data is required for the Administrator to assert or defend against legal claims or when such retention results from applicable country, EU or international laws.
  2. The Administrator shall have the right to share personal User data with other authorized entities based on applicable laws.
  3. The Administrator shall have the right to engage other processors upon written authorization and in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated in article 28 of GDPR.
  4. The personal data might be transmitted to:
    1. parties performing a contracted service of administering the Platform and providing technical support;
    2. analytics service providers, namely Google Analytics, AddThis;
    3. scholarly catalog and database providers:

V. Security Measures

  1. The Platform uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. The passwords entered by User are encrypted.

VI. Cookies

  1. The Platform uses cookies to recognize User’s browser. The collection of such information helps the Administrator to monitor the frequency of visits on the Platform and identify its most popular elements. The data gathered helps the Administrator to adjust the Platform to User needs, streamline how the Platform works and serves the statistical purposes. Cookie files cannot be used to infect User’s device with viruses or other malware.
