Call for Articles 2027

2026-10-06

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The 34th volume of the "Polish-German Yearbook", focusing on Polish research into the Second World War and the German occupation, is now in print; we are therefore beginning to collect articles for the 35th issue of the Yearbook. The next issue will be devoted to the current situation in the Federal Republic of Germany and Austria, and to Poland’s relations with these countries.

The year 2026 was a time of interesting and significant events in Germany and Austria. These deserve in-depth reflection, both with regard to the elections held in the federal states (Länder) and from a long-term perspective, as these elections also reflect the social and economic changes currently taking place. How will the German political landscape change? Will the so-called ‘Brandmauer’ prove sustainable? Will the traditional Christian Democratic and Social Democratic parties rebuild their positions? Will the necessity to seek coalition partners force the AfD to make policy changes? Is the BSW project, created by Sarah Wagenknecht, coming to an end, and will the FDP manage to rebuild itself?

How will the situation in Austria develop, where the FPÖ continues to dominate whilst the Social Democrats are mainly preoccupied with their internal party problems?

From a Polish perspective, a particularly important question is the impact of the above changes on Polish-German relations and on German and Austrian policy towards Russia and Ukraine. Furthermore, the domestic political factors shaping Poland’s policy towards its German neighbour, which are gaining in significance, merit analysis.

We invite you to submit articles until 1 December 2026
