The Deutsche Volksliste already has an extensive literature on the subject, both in Poland and Germany. Of the more important works that wrote about it before 1989, we should recall the studies by Zbigniew Izdebski and Zofia Body-Krężel, and of those written after 1989, primarily the works of Ryszard Kaczmarek on Upper Silesia, but also by other historians. Research in this area has been narrowed for two reasons: the first was a focus on German legal regulations and policies; the second, attention to the plight of many Polish citizens, often forcibly registered on the Deutsche LiVolksliste
