Abstract

The aim of the article is to analyze the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on 17 March 2023 against the current President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova, for the possibility of committing war crimes by acting to the detriment of Ukrainian children (as a result of deportations or forcible transfer) in the light of international law. Furthermore, the considerations relate to the potential extension of the legal qualification of the allegations made by the ICC Prosecutor to the crime of genocide in accordance with the ICC Rome Statute. This will allow to formulate an answer to the question about the real goal of the ongoing aggressive war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
