Civitas. Studia z Filozofii Polityki is a journal published by the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences annually since 1997 and biannually since 2017. The mission of the journal is to provide a forum for discussing traditional and new political ideas from the point of view of various research approaches within political philosophy and other fields of the humanities.
Aims and Scope of the Journal
The idea behind Civitas. Studia z Filozofii Polityki is its cognitive aspect. The journal strives to present syntheses as well as conceptual, empirical, historical , abstract-model, critical and descriptive analyses which encourage to reflect upon the fundamental problems of the most widely understood politics, that is problems significantly related to political system, legal order, encompassing terms existing within these areas and ethical, worldview-related and religious principles, and furthermore modern social life phenomena. Civitas is published biannually, each issue focusing on a separate subject matter.
Civitas seeks to publish manuscripts with a clear line of reasoning where problems are explicitly addressed. Irrespective of trends and styles, we promote clear, concrete thinking pertaining to real, and not fictional problems.
We want the authors submitting to Civitas to be united by a sense of engagement resulting from concern for common problems, and definitely not by a scientistic distance and indifference or by political and ideological frenzy. With this wish in mind, we encourage submissions from all who want to present their reflections on the world of politics in the same spirit.
