The article discusses the New Development Bank (NDB), the only formal institution created by the BRICS group since its inception. Despite BRICS' expansion and increasing cooperation among its members, NDB remains the sole organizational structure of the group. The creation of the bank was an initiative by India, China and Brazil was launched officially in 2014 to finance infrastructure and development projects in member states. Unlike other BRICS ideas—such as a rating agency or vaccine research center—that failed to materialize, NDB succeeded due to strong political will and modest financial requirements. Headquartered in Shanghai, it operates globally and has gradually gained international recognition. The article explores the reasons behind NDB’s uniqueness and its institutional design.
