
The subject of the article is the ancient Greek reflection on the role of Eros in politics. The desirous human nature is driven by various desires, among which Eros occupies a central place, understood as male desire, typically seen as the unity of desire and ability. In Plato’s famous analysis, we are dealing with politicization of desire and at the same time the eroticization of tyranny. In this way, autocracy becomes an aphrodisiacal object of political desire.
