Guidelines for thematic issues of “Studia Polityczne”
The Editorial team of “Studia Polityczne” may decide to publish one thematic issue per calendar year.
A thematic issue comprises scientific articles focused on a single area/topic/theoretical, or methodological approach.
A thematic issue has one to three guest editors.
A thematic issue has a lead editor, who is a member of the Editorial team of „Studia Polityczne”, whose research interests are close to the subject of the thematic issue.
A thematic issue may consist of articles in Polish and/ or in English.
Submission of proposals for thematic issues
Proposals for thematic issues should be submitted to the Editorial team by e-mail studiapolityczne@isppan.waw.pl in the form of a complete submission or in the form of a „Call for Papers” (CfP).
The complete submission shall include:
- A proposal for a thematic issue, in Polish and in English, not exceeding 500 words, and containing the title and objective of the thematic issue, as well as justification for the publication of such a thematic issue, including its contribution to the existing literature;
- Abstracts of 8-10 texts constituting the thematic number (maximum 150 words each) along with the names and affiliations of the authors;
- Work schedule (submission deadline for complete papers);
- A short scientific biography (maximum 150 words) and a list of the three most important publications of each person listed as editor/guest editor.
A submission in the form of a „Call for Papers” (CfP) should include:
- A CfP proposal in Polish and in English, not exceeding 500 words, and containing the title and objective of the thematic issue, its contribution to the existing literature, as well as expectations regarding the scope of the papers solicited under the call;
- Work schedule (including CfP publication date, abstract submission deadline, submission deadline for complete papers, etc.);
- A short scientific biography (maximum 150 words) and a list of the three most important publications of each person listed as a guest editor.
When assessing both types of submissions, the Editorial Team considers the consistency of the issue concept, its contribution to the development of the discipline/subdiscipline, the research area, and the publishing experience of the guest editors.
The Editorial team reserves the right to modify the work schedule.
Responsibilities of guest editors
After being approved by the Editorial Team, the CfP is published on the website of “Studia Polityczne” and on the social media of the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Guest editors are required to make the CfP available on their networks and on the channels of the institutions with which they are affiliated.
Guest editors prepare a ranking list of submitted abstracts. The list is consulted with the lead editor and with the editor-in-chief of “Studia Polityczne”. Guest editors are required to inform authors of the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts.
Guest editors submit an introductory article for the issue.
Review procedure and editorial decisions
Submitted articles (including the introductory article) undergo the standard review procedure of „Studia Polityczne” and, thus, may be rejected after receiving negative reviews.
Guest editors propose reviewers for the articles selected for the thematic issue in line with the confidentiality principle. The final choice of reviewers rests with the lead editor for the thematic issue.
The lead editor is responsible for conducting the review process in the online publishing system.
Final decisions regarding the publication of articles are made by the editor-in-chief after consultation with the lead editor.
