This article tries to provide arguments in support of the claim that Prof. Jerzy Wojciech Borejsza can be regarded as a prominent scholar in research on the German occupation of Poland during the Second World War. At the core of the discussion are the concepts of anti-Slavism and anti-Polonism which he developed to describe integral elements of Nazi German ideology after 1939. Based on the Borejsza’s academic work, the author of this article also offers guidance for contemporary researchers of the German occupation in Poland. The most important and still relevant question remains: To what extent was the German occupation of Poland driven by Nazi ideology and historical experience?
