The aim of the article is to assess the level of involvement of territorial government units (TGUs) in Polish development assistance and to present the geographical directions and thematic areas of the assistance provided by them. The analysis is based on the results of open competitions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “Polish Development Assistance” in 2012–2024 and annual reports on the implementation of this task.
The development assistance of the TGUs constituted a margin of the aid provided by Poland, and they were not the leading entity in MFA competitions. Each year, a few projects were implemented, the total value of which amounted to approx. PLN 21.5 million. The recipients of this assistance are only beneficiaries from the Eastern Partnership countries. Considering the number of completed projects, the first places are occupied by recipients in Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia, while in terms of value – Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus. The largest number of donors represents the local level of cities and municipalities, from which the highest value of aid came, but voivodeships realized the largest number of projects.
