
The article aims to present selected issues related to conducting fieldwork in the extremely demanding environment of the street. The difficulties are compounded by the fact that street children are engaged in the research, with their active and participatory involvement in reconstructing knowledge about who a child is in Poland. The author presents selected own experiences from in-depth fieldwork carried out in the light of radical ethnography in urban studies and childhood studies, focusing on the highlighting of ethical and methodological dilemmas in research of this kind.
