Demograficzne i gospodarcze dysproporcje w postsocjalistycznych i zachodnioeuropejskich regionach w świetle przemian systemowych

Abstrakt

W artykule podjęto problem demograficznych i ekonomicznych uwarunkowań funkcjonowania regionów postsocjalistycznych na tle zachodnioeuropejskich jako skutku przemian systemowych lat dziewięćdziesiątych XX w. Celem badań była identyfikacja skali kurczenia się regionów postsocjalistycznych oraz ocena różnic demograficznych i gospodarczych między nimi a regionami zachodnioeuropejskimi. Do realizacji tego celu posłużono się analizą dynamiki zmiennych demograficznych i gospodarczych oraz nieparametrycznym testem Kruskala-Wallisa. Obszar badawczy objął regiony Unii Europejskiej podzielone na dwie grupy – postsocjalistyczne i zachodnioeuropejskie – oraz ich podkategorie: regiony kurczące się i nieulegające temu zjawisku. Zakres czasowy badań objął lata 2014–2024. Wyniki wskazują na utrwalone różnice między regionami UE: postępujące wyludnianie się Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, starzenie się społeczeństw w Europie Zachodniej oraz trwałe zapóźnienie gospodarcze regionów postsocjalistycznych. Może to jednak ulec zmianie w kolejnych latach, z uwagi na korzystniejszą sytuację demograficzną na rynku pracy w regionach postsocjalistycznych.
