This article undertakes a critical examination of the evolution of Belarus-focused scholarship in Poland in the aftermath of the political upheavals of 2020, which catalysed a marked increase in academic and analytical engagement with Belarusian affairs. Despite the apparent expansion of research capacity, the institutionalisation of Belarusian Studies as a distinct and coherent academic field in Poland remains partial and fragmented. The study delineates the principal trajectories of scholarly transformation since 2020 and foregrounds the importance of a contextualised conceptual distinction between Belarusian Studies and the traditionally philologically oriented Białorutenistyka. By situating these categories within broader theoretical and disciplinary frameworks, the article elucidates their respective epistemological functions and implications for the development of area studies in the Polish academic milieu. The analysis seeks to assess the current state of the field and to identify both the structural constraints and prospective avenues for its further consolidation and institutional recognition.
