Terrorist attacks using motor vehicles have become an important element of jihadist tactics. Many European and non-European agglomerations are exposed to this threat. The article describes the premises for the crystallisation of these threats and their character in relation to security challenges posed by the representatives of radical Salafism that are constantly present and undergoing transformations. It analyses the mechanisms characteristic of such attacks in the context of several terrorist attacks of this kind carried out in Europe. The article also describes anti-terrorist methods and preventive measures that are already an inseparable element of the landscape of so many cities. The article therefore reflects on the shape of terrorist threats to the safety of citizens of European cities and the directions of actions aimed at minimising this risk.
