
This article attempts to present the life and work of Friedrich Schikora, one of the undisputed leaders of the German minority in the Katowice Voivodeship in the 1980s. Schikora is presented against the broad background of the dynamic period of the creation of the structures of the still unrecognised, but organising German minority in Poland. The author analyses his activities in the context of the formation of the first local initiative groups and the overall process of institutionalisation of the German minority.
