This article examines the work of Karol Marian Pospieszalski in researching the German occupation of Poland between 1939 and 1945. It is analysed in conjunction with biography of researcher, who published his most important books during the first fifteen years of the Polish People’s Republic, thus also during the Stalinist era. He is the author of selected sources and other publications that remain a reference point for historians today.
