The article analyses the formation of ephemeral communities during the Jubilee of Youth 2025 in Rome, portraying them as a laboratory for contemporary forms of religious and social communal life. Drawing on Victor Turner’s concept of communitas, the author proposes its reinterpretation through the lenses of liminoidality, affect and digital mediatization. The application of multimodal ethnography enabled the identification of four types of “memory points”, in which the experience of community transcends the temporal and spatial boundaries of the event. The analysis demonstrates that ephemerality does not necessarily imply disappearance but rather a dispersed durability, a community that can regenerate within networks and collective memory. The study reveals how, in the age of mobility and technological mediatization, new forms of postsecular communitas are being shaped.
